Knitting the Bonds
A special exhibition took place at Hangeul Gallery of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts from January 3 to 30 this year. Last fall, 14 disabled overseas adoptees from the U.S. and the Netherlands as well as their families and friends visited Korea to join Happy Together, HCS’s motherland tour program for disabled overseas adoptees. They experienced Korean culture and looked for their roots.
The special exhibition titled ‘Knitting the Bonds’ was for the arts made up of Hangeul written by the participants in Happy Together along with calligrapher Byeong-in Kang. “Loving is with your hearts, not with your eyes,” they wrote it in the Korean alphabet. What they exhibited was a true family tied to each other beyond all kinds of physical limits.
